"In 1971, God used R.C. and Vesta Sproul to establish the Ligonier Valley Study Center. What began as a small study center in the countryside of western Pennsylvania fifty years ago has become, by God’s amazing grace, a discipleship teaching ministry reaching millions of people around the world."
This is a snippet of what you can read on Ligonier Ministries' website, and what I have been translating into Japanese in my recent work.
This Article tells you how Ligonier started, by this amazing theologian R. C. Sproul and his wife Vesta.
This man, has changed my life completely when I encountered his teaching series as a college student. I will tell you the whole story in another post, but I was so awestruck, and powerfully shaken by the truth and the beauty of the Gospel, that I decided to go all the way to the States to study theology at Westminster California Seminary.
Ligonier is a world-wide teaching ministry today - but it started as a small teaching center in a small town. How amazingly God has blessed this ministry.
We, TREE, also are starting really small. Well much smaller than Ligonier, we have no center, no Dr., and not even one book published... yet.
But who can tell us how we look in 50 years later? (I hope I'm gonna be still translating in my 80s..!)
Starting from a small seed, but We have the almighty God who is able.
"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth." (1 Cor. 3:6）
He goes beyond our thoughts, and we trust in that.

私が最近翻訳した記事の 冒頭の一節です。
ここには、R・C・スプロールという神学者が立ち上げた「リゴニア・ミニストリー」の始まりについて、ごくごく簡単に記されています。書き始めると長くなりますので、詳しいことは割愛しますが、R・C・スプロールは、私に神学の目覚め、そして実際に米国の神学校に留学してしまうほど、神様への情熱を与えてくれた神学者です。（リゴニアについて、スプロールについては、またいつか分かち合いたいと思います）
そのリゴニアも、50年前は「片田舎で生まれた小さなスタディ・センター」だった…。この事実に、心が留まりました。
立ち上げたばかりのTREEは、リゴニアよりもずっとずっと小さなミニストリーです。
センターも無ければ、博士もいません。まだ一冊の邦訳書さえ出版できていません。
けれども、50年後にどうなっているかは、まだ誰にもわかりません。
ですから、神様に大きく期待していきたいと思います。
